Job summary

Earlham Institute in Norwich, UK invites applications for a DevOps Engineer (BioFAIR Methods Commons) to deploy and maintain the national Galaxy service on AWS. You will develop cloud architecture, CI/CD, and API observability to support FAIR data workflows.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in CS/SoftwareEng/Bioinformatics or equivalent experience, with strong communication and teamwork skills. This is a 2-year full-time contract based in Norwich.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field.
• Experience deploying and administering web apps or multi-user platforms in production.
• Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, maintain and integrate the production-grade UK Galaxy service on AWS as part of BioFAIR Methods Commons.
• Develop skills in public cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines, RESTful API development and production observability.
• Collaborate with the Data Science Group and other stakeholders to ensure reliable, scalable services.
