Job summary

Jacobs in the United Kingdom is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build and maintain cloud-based data platforms across government and regulated environments. You will develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS and Azure, with PySpark, SQL and Python/Java to unlock data value for clients.

You will collaborate with data architects, engineers and client stakeholders, contribute to documentation and CI/CD practices, and benefit from mentoring and flexible, hybrid working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and building ETL/ELT data pipelines in cloud environments.
• Developing data integration components and services, including Java microservices where required.
• Comfort with structured and semi-structured data formats like parquet, avro, JSON.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines using AWS or Azure cloud-native services and established engineering patterns.
• Prepare, transform and validate data including Parquet/Avro/JSON formats and write efficient SQL for cloud platforms.
• Build scalable data processing solutions using PySpark, Python and cloud orchestration services.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring and logging for trusted data delivery.
• Collaborate with data architects, analysts and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
