Opticore IT is currently searching for a Cloud and Platforms Architect to join our Broadcast Media client on a contract inside IR35, to ensure their cloud and on-premise platforms are fit for purpose. You'll join our team, based in the London area, two days a week.

Opticore IT is a rapidly expanding specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications, and more.

You’ll support the Head of Architecture, Enterprise Architects, Cloud Product Managers, and platform engineering teams in creating the vision and strategy for multi-cloud adoption, supporting streaming platforms, applications, and data.

What you'll be doing:

1. Consulting with technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify business requirements and opportunities, then building solution proposals and guiding them through the full project lifecycle.
2. Designing and integrating IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
3. Deploying and managing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Python, PowerShell, GitOps, Policy as Code, and ARM templates.
4. Working with container environments and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
5. Managing operating systems, including Linux and Windows.
6. Optimizing cloud infrastructure performance for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
7. Utilizing automation tools to streamline processes.
8. Developing relationships through confident, engaging, and professional interactions.
9. Utilizing visibility and observability solutions, e.g., platform monitoring, user experience monitoring, application performance monitoring, and resource monitoring.
10. Implementing backups, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.

What you'll bring:

1. Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
2. Experience in designing and integrating IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions across these platforms.
3. Proficiency in data center virtualization, compute, SAN, storage, and data protection.
4. A good understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute, VPNs, subnets, firewalls, cloud security, and load balancers.
5. Experience with providing high-quality architecture within an Agile environment.
6. Knowledge of DevOps practices, tools, site reliability engineering, and platform engineering.
7. Knowledge of security best practices for cloud platforms, applications, and operating systems.
