Job summary

The University of Plymouth invites applications for a Clinical Tutor (Orthoptist) based at the Centre for Eyecare Excellence in Plymouth. This temporary, 8-hour contract role involves supervising final year undergraduates and assessing their progress under GOC standards, with feedback on clinical performance after patient encounters.

Applicants must be HCPC registered, a qualified Orthoptist, and hold Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Qualifications

• Be registered with HCPC (excluding social workers in England).
• A Qualified Orthoptist.
• Hold Professional Indemnity Insurance.
• Have excellent communication skills.
• Be supportive, organised, and collaborative in clinical education.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe clinical supervision of final year undergraduates at the Centre for Eyecare Excellence (CEE) in accordance with GOC supervision standards.
• Assess the competence of third year undergraduates against GOC Outcomes for Registration criteria.
• Provide undergraduate optometry students with feedback on clinical performance after patient encounters.
