Job summary

University of Plymouth seeks a Clinical Tutor (Orthoptist) to supervise final year optometry students at the Centre for Eyecare Excellence in Plymouth.

You will assess student competence against GOC Outcomes for Registration and provide constructive feedback following patient episodes, ensuring safe, high-quality clinical learning on-site. This is a part-time, permanent role requiring DBS and safeguarding checks.

About the role:

As a clinical tutor, you will:

• To ensure safe clinical supervision of final year undergraduates at the Centre for Eyecare Excellence (CEE) in accordance with the Standards for adequate supervision outlined by the General Optical Council (GOC).
• To assess the competence of third year undergraduate students against the criteria outlined for the GOC Outcomes for Registration.
• To provide undergraduate optometry students with feedback on their clinical performance following a completed patient episode.
