Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a qualified professional for the Mould Room at Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. The role involves designing and manufacturing treatment delivery aids and positioning devices essential for accurate radiotherapy. You will undertake patient assessments and support treatment planning within a surgical/clinical setting.

The position includes opportunities for involvement in audits, R&D projects, and potential leadership duties as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Medical Technology or a relevant discipline (or equivalent qualification).
• Understanding of radiotherapy treatment delivery and planning processes.
• Knowledge of specialised treatment accessories and positioning devices.
• Awareness of clinical audit and research methodologies.
• Experience or understanding of radiotherapy-related technical services would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design and manufacture specialised treatment delivery aids and patient positioning devices.
• Carry out patient assessment activities.
• Participate in pre-treatment procedures and treatment planning.
• Manufacture customised Ostalloy shielding blocks.
• Contribute to clinical audit activities.
• Participate in research and development projects.
• Deputise for the Section Manager when required.
• Support the effective day-to-day operational management of the Mould Room clinical technical service.

The role:

A vacancy has arisen within the Mould Room at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will design and manufacture specialised treatment delivery aids and positioning devices that are essential for the accurate delivery of radiotherapy treatment.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Permanent, full-time

Shift pattern - Monday - Friday 08.30 - 17.00

Base location - Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre

Along with travel to: Facilities are situated in the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and the Tom Wheldon Building on the Gartnavel Hospitals site, and at the Lanarkshire Beatson satellite centre on the Monklands District Hospital site

Key responsibilities:

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in Medical Technology or a relevant discipline (or equivalent qualification).

• Knowledge of specialised treatment accessories and positioning devices.
• Awareness of clinical audit and research methodologies.
