Clinical Teaching Assistant | Full-Time | Term-Time | Bedford

Are you fascinated by human behaviour, mental health, and trauma-informed practice? Are you eager to apply your Psychology or Criminology degree in a practical, meaningful way that directly supports vulnerable young people within Bedford?

We're looking for an insightful, emotionally intelligent, and committed Clinical Teaching Assistant in Bedford to join a progressive, inclusive school environment that supports students with a range of complex needs - including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and trauma-related behaviours.

This Clinical Teaching Assistant role is the ideal role for a graduate seeking clinical experience before progressing into careers such as Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Youth Justice, or Mental Health Support.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Supporting students 1:1 or in small therapeutic groups, helping them regulate emotions, engage with learning, and build resilience.
  • Using psychological theory and trauma-informed approaches to help understand and respond to challenging behaviour.
  • Working alongside therapists, SEN professionals, and clinical teams to deliver targeted support.
  • Observing, recording, and reflecting on behavioural patterns - giving you a unique insight into real-world clinical presentations.

We're Looking For:

  • A recent graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field.
  • Someone with a calm, reflective, and empathetic nature.
  • A genuine interest in mental health, behaviour, and education.
  • Previous experience with children, young people, or vulnerable groups is helpful - but passion and potential matter most.

What You'll Gain:

  • First-hand experience in a multidisciplinary setting with clinical influences.
  • Specialist training in trauma-informed practice, behaviour management, and safeguarding.
  • An invaluable stepping stone toward careers in psychology, social work, or mental health services.
  • A collaborative, supportive environment where your voice and ideas are valued.
