Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is recruiting for a Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker. The role supports a multi-disciplinary team in pre-clinic checks and patient care within the Outpatients department, which is undergoing NHS England–led transformation.

Experience in care and completion of required certificates are essential. Applicants should have numeracy/literacy at Level 1, IELTS/OETS as applicable, and the Care Certificate or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Numeracy/Literacy skills to Level 1 (GCSE Grade 2-3, D-F or equivalent). IELTS or OETS accepted for overseas applicants (Level 7 in Listening/speaking/reading & Level 6.5 in Writing).
  • Care Certificate or must complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care/Equivalent qualification or willing/required to complete if successful.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the multi-disciplinary team with pre-clinic checks (observations, height, weight, BMI, labs, ECGs).
  • Support patients and carers and help with some caring duties as required.
  • Work with colleagues in a supportive, team-based Outpatients environment.
  • Engage with patients daily in a busy outpatient department undergoing transformation.

Job description

In relation to Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker roles, we are currently able to recruit successfully from the domestic labour market and have a sufficient pool of suitably qualified and appointable candidates. As a result, visa sponsorship is not available for this role at this time. This position is kept under regular review and may change in the future should labour market conditions or service requirements alter. Important information for applicants: To ensure clarity of accountability, scope of practice and professional responsibilities, the Trust does not appoint individuals holding active NMC or HCPC registration into Band 2 Clinical/AHP Support Worker or Band 3 Senior Clinical/AHP Support Worker roles. Medical Outpatients is a busy environment on a daily basis and supports with a wide range of clinics. Their is opportunity to work with a wide range of the multi disciplinary team on a daily basis. There will also be lots of engagement with communicating with patients. Main duties of the job To support the multi disciplinary team with pre clinic checks which vary from clinic to clinic. The tests required could include: observations, height, weight, bmi, laboratory specimens and ecg's. To work alongside colleagues in a supportive manner and also help with some elements of caring responsibilities when supporting patients if needed., The outpatients department is currently undergoing a transformation in line with NHS England, so this will be an exciting time to join. To provide support in pre clinic checks such as observations, height, weight bmi, urinary analysis and venepuncture if applicable. There will also be a requirement to support with chaperoning when required.
