To admit patients for a variety of surgical procedures and escalate any concerns in relation to the patients suitability for surgery to qualified nurse colleagues.
To assist the registered nurse in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care.
To report any concerns to the registered nurse relating to standards of cleanliness, hazards and patient safety within the clinical area.
To ensure the registered nurse is regularly updated on patients' condition and progress.
To ensure the equipment is clean and in good working order.
To ensure the environment is clean and tidy.
To participate with the induction of staff new to the clinical area.
To minimize hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the line manager. To adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the work area.
To demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, to ensure dissemination of information.
To maintain confidentiality at all times.
To promote awareness of adult protection issues.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- L3 Health and Social Care Qualification or equivalent experience (minimum 12 months)
Desirable criteria- Level 2 maths and English
ExperienceEssential criteria- Previous experience in a healthcare role at Band 2 or 3
- Experience of communicating with people from different backgrounds
- Experience of working under pressure and dealing with competing demands
- Basic digital skills
Desirable criteria- Experience of working in a range of healthcare settings
- Experience of using digital systems in a healthcare setting
KnowledgeEssential criteria- Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, limited clinical duties and relevant legislation
- An understanding of the fundamentals of patient care
Desirable criteria- Knowledge of hospitals policies/guidelines/ procedure
