Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Support Worker to provide patient-facing support in Endoscopy. You will work alongside nurses and endoscopists, assisting in procedures and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the endoscopy process.

The role involves transferring endoscopes to HDSU, supporting the recovery area, recording observations, and aiding in safe patient transfer. A Care Certificate or equivalent qualification is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of the NHS Care Certificate or relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3 or willing to complete the care certificate within the first 3 months of employment
• Knowledge of care and related procedures
• Experience with manual handling of patients, using lifting aids
• Experience of completing patient care records
• Experience and involvement of an improvement project/s
• Experience of holding an area of responsibility relating to training/audit

Job overview

This is a patient facing support role working alongside the nurses, endoscopists and the wider multidisciplinary team.

You will be involved in all aspects of patient care, but particularly communicating with patients, empathising and providing reassurance.

You will be expected to transfer endoscopes to HDSU in a timely fashion to keeping up with the fast pace of the unit.

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
