Are you a qualified Occupational Therapist with significant post graduate NHS experience looking for your next career step? Want to enhance your experience and lead clinical OT practise across different patients and care settings in one of the UK's largest hospital Trusts?

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to work within our Specialised Medicine Therapy team based across the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Weston Park Hospital.

As a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist you will work alongside a team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and support staff, to deliver high quality care utilising quality improvement and evidence-based healthcare. This will include interventions around early assessment, re-enablement and discharge planning working closely with the MDT and utilising clinical reasoning skills for a complex and diverse case-mix of patients. This will include cognitive assessment, and functional assessment amongst other core occupational therapy skills. Covering a variety of different wards across the hospitals, this is great chance to work with a wide range of patients and develop your experience of different specialties, including Oncology, Haematology, Urology and Infectious Diseases.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who has:
  • Comprehensive post-registration experience including experience at specialist/senior level within an acute medical/oncology or surgical environment/speciality
  • Sound knowledge, skills and experience in the education, training and development of pre-registration and post-registration learners
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills
  • A commitment to quality improvement, evidence-based healthcare and collective leadership

There will be opportunities for:
  • Supervision and mentorship of Therapy staff
  • A variety of teaching/training commitments within the team, division and Acute Therapy Services
  • Organisation of service delivery and selected line management responsibilities
  • Participation in a range of clinical governance/assurance/management forums
  • Service development
Therapy Services provides a number of services over 7 days (including Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays). Successful candidates may be expected to contribute to these rosters as part of their contracted hours.
