Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Clinical Skills Trainer within the Clinical Education Team (DERI) to develop, co-ordinate, implement and evaluate clinical skills training across the Trust. The post holder will support the Preceptorship Multi‑Professional Programme and provide cross‑cover to other clinical teams, promoting safe and effective care.

The role will be based primarily at BGTH and RBH sites, with occasional cross-site work.

Qualifications

• Evidence of competence within a wide range of clinical skills.
• Teaching/assessing qualification and experience.
• Ability to lead and organise teaching activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clinical skills training (venepuncture, cannulation, IV therapies, ECG, catheterisation, tracheostomy care).
• Provide monthly reports for clinical skills courses and progress.
• Manage teaching groups and ensure equitable delivery.
• Collate data and feedback to evaluate course materials.
• Provide expert advice to clinical areas on skills and preceptorship.
• Adapt training delivery to service needs and demand.
• Organise workload and work autonomously.
• Facilitate adult learning in a safe environment.
• Develop training for international nurses.
• Support multi-professional preceptorship across the Trust.
• Support other clinical teams in course facilitation.
• Be a faculty member for resuscitation courses (ILS/BLS).
• Evaluate service delivery and identify improvements.
