Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust in Leicester is inviting a motivated, registered or soon-to-be registered clinical scientist to join our Radiotherapy Physics team at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

You will cover all aspects of Radiotherapy Physics under a Lead Clinical Scientist, with opportunities to develop your own interests as the department expands its capabilities with a second Varian Halcyon.

Qualifications

• A first or second class honours degree in Physics or relevant subject.
• A postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD) or equivalent.
• State Registration as a Clinical Scientist or expecting to achieve within the next 12 months.
• Evidence of attendance at conferences or training courses (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine and complex treatment planning for external beam radiotherapy.
• Carry out associated dosimetry calculations per clinical prescription and procedures.
• Analyse requirements and make complex judgments on treatment parameters and dose distributions.
• Advise clinical staff on effects of plan options on patient dose distributions.
• Develop approaches with staff to improve safety, quality and consistency.
• Assist with dosimetry and quality control in radiotherapy including brachytherapy.
• Perform dosimetry measurements and ensure accuracy with suitable equipment.
• Maintain HCPC registration and participate in on-call rota.
