Job summary

* Please note that this is a12-month fixed-term contract

Are you an experienced clinical professional with a passion for patient safety and digital innovation?

BPAS is looking for an Interim Clinical Safety Officer to provide clinical safety leadership across our digital health systems, ensuring technology supports safe, effective and patient-centred care.

Working closely with clinical, operational and digital teams, you will lead clinical risk management, provide assurance for existing systems and support the development of our future clinical systems strategy. You will play a key role in ensuring digital innovation improves access, quality and efficiency without compromising patient safety.

About You

You will have current, unrestricted registration with a UK healthcare professional body, appropriate clinical experience and recognised Clinical Safety Officer training covering DCB0129 and DCB0160. You will have experience providing clinical safety assurance for digital health systems, with a strong understanding of clinical risk management, hazard assessments and patient safety.

You will be an analytical, collaborative and confident professional, able to provide independent advice, challenge decisions and escalating risks where necessary. Experience of digital healthcare systems, clinical safety documentation and working across clinical and technical teams is essential.

Main duties of the job

You will establish and strengthen BPAS' Clinical Risk Management System, providing clinical safety oversight of our existing booking and clinical record systems, BIS and CAS2. You will identify and assess clinical risks, maintain hazard logs and safety cases, and ensure appropriate controls and assurance arrangements are in place.

You will support BPAS' future clinical systems strategy, providing clinical safety input into system requirements, procurement, selection, testing, implementation and data migration where required. You will also lead multidisciplinary risk assessments, review supplier safety evidence and provide independent clinical safety advice to senior stakeholders.

You will support the investigation of digital incidents and near misses, develop clinical safety guidance, contribute to staff training and provide governance reporting on risks and outstanding actions. You will ensure patient safety remains central to digital development and delivery, escalating concerns and recommending appropriate action where risks are not adequately controlled.

This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity to support BPAS' digital transformation while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical care.
