Clinical Research Midwife /Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Midwife with a strong interest in clinical research to join our dynamic research team at University College London Hospital on a 12 month fixed term contract

In this position, you will oversee and conduct a variety of CRN Portfolio-supported research studies in the fields of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Main duties of the job

While prior research experience is preferred, it is not essential as full training will be provided. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to quickly understand and implement complex academic protocols, possess strong attention to detail, excellent time management and organisational skills, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The research midwife or nurse will be responsible for identifying and recruiting eligible participants for clinical studies, providing clear and accurate information about the research, and obtaining informed consent. They will act as a key point of contact for both study participants and healthcare professionals, ensuring effective communication and support throughout the research process. The role also involves managing study data in line with regulatory requirements and overseeing participant follow-up to maintain protocol compliance and data integrity. Applicants must meet all the essential criteria listed in the Person Specification and align with the Trust's vision and values. Ideally, candidates will have at least 2 years of post-registration experience and a genuine interest in clinical research. Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Registered Midwife or Nurse with evidence of continuing professional development.
  • First degree or working towards a degree
  • Evidence of ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge of the role of a Research Midwife
  • Knowledge of Research Governance Framework UK clinical trial legislation
  • Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice
  • Understanding of professional and current issues in midwifery and nursing (gynae) and in clinical research
  • Knowledge of current WHR studies running within UCLH
  • Understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues
Experience
  • Evidence of working as a Nurse/Midwife within an NHS Women's Health clinical area
  • 2 years post registration and clinical experience
  • Exposure to research delivery within their clinical setting.
  • Demonstrate clinical ability to provide high quality patient care
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Proven ability to work under own initiative and manage own workload
  • High level of administrative skills & computer literacy to include use of Microsoft Office suit.
  • Curiosity & detail orientated with a high level of accuracy.
