Clinical Psychologist/ Neuropsychologist

You will be responsible for the provision of highly specialist neuropsychological assessments and brief interventions with patients following stroke, assessing mood, adjustment, behavioural and cognitive functioning using clinical interview, structured observations, highly specialist psychometric measures and other assessment methods as appropriate. Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will advise patients, their relatives/carers, and non-psychologist colleagues about ways of supporting, managing or remediating mood, behaviour and cognitive difficulties. There will be opportunities to develop individual and group intervention pathways, in collaboration with the MDT.

Main duties of the job
  1. Clinical Practice
  2. To carry out specialist assessments of cognitive, behavioural and emotional functioning with clients with complex neuro-disability and develop clear psychological formulations based on these assessments.
  3. To carry out functional analyses of challenging behaviours and develop appropriate guidelines and intervention plans.
  4. To make recommendations for interventions and care based on psychological formulations. To deliver and monitor interventions such as cognitive rehabilitation strategies, psycho-education, CBT, behavioural interventions, guided by the formulation.
  5. To conduct complex mental capacity assessments and contribute to joint assessments with the MDT as needed. To participate in best interests decisions when patients lack capacity.
  6. To provide information, support, and advice to patients' families and carers, and support the MDT in working with families.

Engage in audits, service evaluations, and research projects to improve service quality.

Provide leadership to care teams, support service development, promote a positive workplace culture, and facilitate effective communication and co-production with patients and families.

Maintain professional registration, identify personal development needs, and comply with statutory requirements.
