Job description

We are seeking a clinical psychologist to cover maternity leave for a colleague in this established role. The post holder will work across the lifespan in Diabetes care, embedded in the MDT for children, young people (0.4 WTE), and adults (0.2 WTE). You will be working in two outpatient diabetes multidisciplinary services: the paediatric and young persons’ team, and the adult diabetes team.

The post holder will work across the lifespan (children & young people with diabetes 0.4 WTE and adults with diabetes 0.2 WTE) and, with psychological therapist colleagues, provide a clinical psychology service within the diabetes multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing psychological assessment and intervention for CYP and adults with diabetes.
  2. Working within the MDT, mainly at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, leading psychological care and supporting the MDT to enhance the psychological experience of each patient.
  3. Ensuring annual psychological assessments for all CYPs as required for Best Practice Tariff.
  4. Developing and leading psychological groups alongside your Clinical Psychology colleague for the CYP service at Wycombe Hospital, and contributing to general diabetes patient education groups.
  5. Running the psychological therapy service for adults with diabetes, including screening referrals, allocating cases, and supervising those seen by the local Talking Therapies CBT therapist in diabetes.
  6. Conducting risk assessments and liaising with mental health agencies and social care to ensure safety of CYP and adults in your care.
