This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary CAMHS team and contribute to an integrated and well established psychological provision. There will be opportunities to work with children and young people from 5 to 18 years old, and their families, using a range of modalities and methods of intervention. You will have opportunities to contribute to service evaluation and development, work across a range of care pathways and get involved in project and improvement work. You will be joining a motivated and nurturing multidisciplinary team and have opportunities for professional development including training and multidisciplinary supervision and working.

Main duties of the job
As part of our CAMHS team the post holder will be expected to support services for children who require assessment and intervention in relation to mental health difficulties which are impacting significantly on their quality of life and/or neurodivergencies and to be an integral part of the CAMH Service and working to Pennine Care Strategic objectives. The Post holder will be managed by a senior Clinical Psychologist in CAMHS /Operational Manager.
You will :
- provide specialist psychological assessments of children
- formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of the child's presenting issues
- be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups
- evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group
- contribute to the development of a service whereby professionals within and outside of CAMHS who work with children with significant mental health or neurodevelopmental needs have access to a psychologically based framework for understanding the care of clients of the service, through the provision of advice and consultation and the dissemination of psychological research and
theory

Person specificationEducation / QualificationsEssential criteria- Doctoral degree or equivalent accepted by the British Psychological Society as qualifying the person to work as a clinical psychologist.
- Eligibility for BPS Chartered status
- Current registration with HCPC governing body
Desirable criteria- Post-qualification training or experience with children and adolescents.
ExperienceEssential criteria- Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with children and families across the age range.
- Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork and consulting with health care and other professionals.
- Experience in designing, planning and undertaking clinical research and service evaluation.
- Experience in teaching and training staff from other professional groups in psychological skills and concepts.
Desirable criteria- Positive approach to own continuing professional development.
- Interest in supervising assistant psychologists and trainees.
KnowledgeEssential criteria- Knowledge of attachment difficulties in YP and their families / carers
Desirable criteria- Working knowledge of professional systems involved in work with children.
Skills and AbilitiesEssential criteria- Ability to plan and prioritise own caseload.
- Ability to formulate clinical problems using psychological theory
- Ability to assess needs, plan, implement and evaluate appropriate interventions with children and parents / carers across the age range
- Ability to work with people from different backgrounds, cultures and of different ages
- Good skills in communicating with children, parents and colleagues
- Ability to cope with stressful interpersonal situations including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the case of highly emotive and distressing problems and the threat of verbal and physical abuse
