This 2 year temporary post for a Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, presents an exciting opportunity to work with the Consultant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist in the development of an ICU Psychology service across the 3 NHS GGC A&E’s (Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital).
The Guidelines of the Provision of Intensive care version 2.1 (GPICS v 2.1) recommends embedding practitioner psychologists within critical care teams to address the psychological health needs of patients, families and staff.
Under the leadership of the Consultant Psychologist, the postholder will work alongside the wider ICU multidisciplinary team members to develop an integrated psychology service, focusing on the emotional and mental health care of the patients and their family members, while also working to enhance the wellbeing of the staff. With 2 years of funding, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and embedding of an ICU psychology service in the largest health board in Scotland. Ongoing funding will be dependent on service evaluation.
The post holder will utilise their research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research activities within Intensive care. Additionally, to provide clinical and professional supervision to trainees undertaking Masters/Doctoral training, plus to support MDT training and follow-up coaching/supervision sessions, where required.
We look forward to receiving enquiries about this post from HCPC registered Clinical/Counselling Psychologists who have post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent before the introduction of doctoral level qualifications) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan development psychology. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check. Ability and willingness to travel to all 3 ICU sites is a requirement of the post.
