NHS Scotland is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to provide specialized psychological services within the CAMHS Intellectual Disability Service. The role includes direct patient care, supervision, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Candidates should have relevant qualifications, including PVG membership, and expertise in assessing and treating children with intellectual disabilities. This position offers the opportunity to lead within a local authority and contribute to audits and research.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If not currently a PVG member for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult), an application must be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before starting in the role.
The role involves providing high-quality clinical psychology services within the specialist CAMHS Intellectual Disability Service, including supervising clinical psychologists and trainees, and collaborating with MDT colleagues such as nurses. The post holder will take leadership as the clinical psychology representative within a designated local authority (e.g., West Lothian) or within a specific service area such as the Tier 4 Intensive Treatment Service. Responsibilities include undertaking psychological assessments and treatments for children and young people with intellectual disabilities (ID), developing biopsychosocial formulations, and providing supervision and training within a governance framework.
The post also involves conducting audits and research relevant to the service, managing a complex caseload, and acting as an expert resource for the team and multiagency colleagues regarding assessments, formulations, and interventions for children and young people with ID and complex behavioral presentations.
