About the role:
This role reports to the Head of PMO and is responsible for the management of LifeArc's Clinical Portfolio. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team based in LifeArc's London office, collaborating with colleagues across LifeArc's sites (Stevenage, Edinburgh, London). You will be responsible for coordinating all efforts related to the portfolio. You will act as a key business partner to the Chief Medical Officer and associated Heads of Functions (Clinical, Medical, Regulatory, Quality), and work closely with our project sponsors, project leaders and team members, ensuring strategy is translated into achievable operational plans and that clinical project activities are delivered to the highest quality and regulatory standards and within agreed timelines and budget.
The role responsibilities:
- Manages the clinical portfolio by facilitating high level strategic planning and goal setting, ensuring consistency and alignment with LifeArc strategy, goals and commitments.
- Accountable for the oversight of accurate project financial forecasting, resource management and project prioritisation, and responsible for tracking forecasts to overall project budgets and project quarterly spend commitments.
- Ensures provision of information for clinical project tracking, monitoring and controlling, including milestone attainment, budget variance, timeline tracking, recruitment tracking, and other requirements to assess project performance including risk. Ensures project reporting is streamlined to manage workload, whilst tailored to meet the requirements of internal and external stakeholders.
- Accountable for ensuring project information is entered into systems and databases, and all data is accurate and is updated in a timely manner in accordance with guidance and agreed frequency.
- Supports the application of effective project management governance, processes and systems across the company, demonstrating best practice for successful delivery.
- Manages Clinical Portfolio meetings and associated meetings with appropriate cadence, timely agendas and pre-reads, minute-taking, record keeping around decisions and actions.
- The portfolio manager will be expected to provide programme and project management support, for example drafting business cases.
Education & experience required:- Educated to at least BSc degree in life science subject.
- Significant experience of diverse portfolio management at the strategic and operational level within the life science community.
- Significant experience and technical understanding in product development within the life-sciences industry.
- Understanding of Good Clinical Practice and experience of clinical project/portfolio management with an awareness of clinical trial requirements.
Desirable:- Certified project/portfolio management qualifications (e.g. PMP) are preferred.
Skills & abilities:- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to set clear expectations, drive accountability and the tenacity to drive projects to conclusion.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix environment.
- Ability to critically and objectively interpret and evaluate scientific, technical and business-related information, and challenge assumptions.
