Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an 8a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to join the Psychology Access Team in Central Norfolk locality. The post offers opportunities to lead, develop leadership skills and contribute to neighbourhood hubs.

Based in Norwich, you will provide psychological assessment, formulation and intervention, offer supervision, and facilitate groups, with training in CBT, EMDR, ACT, and DBT encouraged. Salary bands £57,528–£64,750 per annum pro rata.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate degree in clinical psychology accredited by BPS.
• Registered with HCPC as a practitioner psychologist.
• Evidence of CPD in one or more specialised areas of psychological practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to service users with complex needs.

8a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist

We have an opportunity available in our friendly, developing Psychology Access Team in Central Norfolk Locality. We are looking for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist committed to working with service users whose needs would be best met by a stand‑alone psychology team. The team offers consultation, assessment, formulation, one to one therapy and groups. Building on our teams' existing capacity for safe delivery of psychologically informed care the post holders will enjoy working a team that includes an 8b Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Associates in Psychology under the guidance of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Approaches used include CBT, EMDR, ACT, and DBT and training in these or other relevant areas will be encouraged and supported; we are committed to investing in our colleagues and will support your development.

The post offers opportunities to develop leadership skills, as well as to become involved in the transformation of services and development of neighbourhood hubs. We have strong structures in place for clinical supervision and encourage collaboration with other psychologists in the Trust. Depending on experience, we are able to appoint to 8a or band 7 preceptorship up to 8a

Main duties of the job

Based in Norwich, and covering bases across Central Norfolk locality. You will provide psychological assessment, formulation and intervention directly to service users presenting with a range of mental health concerns, as well offering consultation and advice to primary care colleagues, working indirectly to benefit the service user and support the team. We have a strong focus on group work, and you will have opportunity to facilitate groups and innovate and develop new ones as the need arises. You will help the team and primary care colleagues develop their psychological skills via reflective practice, consultation and clinical supervision and will offer training as required. There are opportunities to supervise assistant psychologists, clinical psychology trainees and clinical associates in psychology. This post provides the opportunity to build relationships across services including with CMHTs, primary care, VCSE agencies and NHS Talking Therapies. We are particularly interested in the post holder taking a lead in service wide initiatives and supporting innovative practice in neighbourhood working.

Person specification

Qualifications

• Post-graduate degree (or its equivalent if trained prior to 1996) in clinical psychology, accredited by BPS
• Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice

Experience

• Experience of working with a range of complex and challenging behaviours and exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological treatment
• Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist in a setting relevant to the post
• Experience of representing psychology within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts)

Skills

• Skills in consultation to professional and non - professional groups
