The Position

At Roche/Genentech Pharma Product Development Global Clinical Operations (PDG), we aim to transform drug development and deliver 20 transformative medicines by 2029. We seek a Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader for our Neurology Portfolio, a senior leadership role responsible for strategy, delivery, and enterprise collaboration in clinical operations.

PD’s mission is to improve patients’ lives worldwide through impactful medicines. We conduct global trials, analyze results, monitor safety, and collaborate with regulatory authorities across various therapeutic areas, including Neurology. Our development centers are located in Basel, South San Francisco, Welwyn Garden City, Mississauga, and Shanghai, among others.

The Opportunity:

The Neurology Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader at Roche/Genentech is accountable for the strategy and execution of the Neurology portfolio. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and Refine Neurology Portfolio Strategy: Responsible for the clinical operations strategy, adapting it to evolving landscapes and aligning with the Clinical Development Plan and the One Pharma Strategy.
  • Portfolio Oversight and Risk Management: Monitor asset and study delivery, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies for efficient trial execution.
  • Strategic Stakeholder Alignment and Decision-Making: Collaborate across teams and act as a key decision-maker for operational portfolio decisions beyond the PDG country footprint.
  • Operational Excellence and Innovation: Use analytics to improve efficiency, quality, and budget management; drive innovation and patient-focused research.
  • Representation and Influence: Serve as the PDG voice for Neurology, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive portfolio success.
  • Leadership and Talent Development: Lead a matrixed team of approximately 150 employees, including 10-12 direct reports, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • People Management and Administrative Oversight: Oversee team performance, provide feedback, coaching, and manage administrative responsibilities.

Who you are:

  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical clinical operations experience, with at least 10 years in global clinical strategy leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of neurological diseases and the global neurology landscape.
  • Understanding of global pharma clinical development in international settings.
  • Proven success in strategy development, analytics, data-driven decisions, and expanding access to underserved populations.
  • Experience managing large, matrixed organizations and leading high-performing teams.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus. Willingness to travel internationally.

This position can be based in Basel, Switzerland; South San Francisco, USA; Welwyn, England; or Mississauga, Canada, with an expectation of ongoing campus presence. Relocation benefits are available.

The salary range for California is $227,600 - $422,600, with actual pay based on experience, location, and other factors. Benefits are detailed in the provided link.
