At Roche/Genentech Pharma Product Development Global Clinical Operations (PDG), we are committed to transforming drug development and delivering 20 transformative medicines by 2029. We seek a Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader to oversee our Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism (CVRM) Portfolio. This senior leadership role involves strategic planning, execution, and enterprise collaboration.

Our mission is to improve patients’ lives worldwide through innovative medicines. We conduct global clinical trials across various therapeutic areas, including Oncology, Hematology, Neurology, and others. Our development centers are located in Basel, Switzerland; South San Francisco, California; Welwyn Garden City, England; Mississauga, Canada; and Shanghai, China.

The Opportunity:

The CVRM Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader at Roche/Genentech is responsible for the strategy and delivery of the CVRM portfolio. Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and Evolve CVRM Portfolio Strategy: Define and refine the clinical operations strategy to align with the Clinical Development Plan and corporate strategy.
• Oversight and Risk Management: Monitor portfolio progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure seamless trial execution.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Align and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to optimize portfolio delivery.
• Operational Leadership and Innovation: Enhance efficiency and quality through analytics, process optimization, and innovative approaches.
• Representation and Influence: Act as the voice of PDG in CVRM, building relationships with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
• Leadership and Team Development: Lead a matrixed team of approximately 150 employees, fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusion.
• Enterprise Leadership: Contribute to broader organizational goals as a member of the Portfolio Delivery Leadership Team.
• People Management: Drive engagement, performance, and development; manage administrative responsibilities.

Who you are:

• 15+ years of pharmaceutical clinical operations experience, with at least 10 years in strategy leadership.
• Strong knowledge of Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism diseases and clinical trial development.
• Proven success in strategy development using analytics and data-driven decision-making.
• Experience managing large, matrixed organizations and leading high-performing teams.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus. Willing to travel as needed.

This position can be based in Basel, Switzerland; South San Francisco, USA; Welwyn, England; or Mississauga, Canada, with expectations for ongoing site presence. Relocation benefits are available.

The salary range for California is $227,600 - $422,600, with actual pay determined by experience and location. A discretionary bonus and benefits are included.
