Job summary

HF is seeking a Healthcare Litigation Solicitor (NQ-4 PQE) to join their Healthcare Litigation team, handling pre-action work, drafting and trial preparation for clinical negligence matters across Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Harrogate, or London. The role offers hybrid working and a permissive contract.

You will support NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts, and medical defence organisations with confidential, high-stakes advice.

Qualifications

• Previous healthcare litigation experience, ideally from a panel firm or medical defence insurer or indemnifier, or a completed clinical negligence seat for NQ-4 PQE
• Familiar with issues relevant to healthcare clients
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality
• Strong communication skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Flexible and able to handle a varied workload and work within a team

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre-action investigation and drafting
• Draft reports and advice to clients in and out of litigation
• Prepare and attend trials and mediations
• Interview witnesses and draft statements
• Manage costs and budgets for matters

We are looking for an enthusiastic healthcare litigation lawyer NQ-4 PQE level with strong clinical negligence experience to join our Healthcare Litigation team and work alongside them on the extensive range of services we provide.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Pre-action investigation and drafting
• Drafting of reports and advice to clients in and out of litigation
• Preparation and attendance of trials and mediations;
• Interviewing witnesses and drafting of statements
• Cost management;
• Multi-party litigation;
• ADR/mediation and attendance at settlement meetings;
• Negotiation of settlement;
• Preparation and attendance at Court hearings including CCMCs and application hearings
• Client training and support activities including; presentations, seminars and webinars
• Business development activities (appropriate to role)

What do I need?

• Previous healthcare litigation experience, ideally from another panel firm or medical defence insurer or indemnifier or if you are newly qualified, to have completed a seat in clinical negligence.
• Familiar with issues relevant to our clients within the healthcare sector
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong communication skills
• Able to uphold strong confidentiality and ensure compliance with client requirements
• Able to work to tight deadlines and targets
• Flexible and willing to take on a varied workload
• Able to work as part of a wider team
