Job summary

ENL Legal Recruitment is seeking a Clinical Negligence Solicitor in Liverpool to join a firm defending NHS Resolution and Trust claims, including birth-injury work. You will handle high-quality, challenging matters under an experienced team and have scope to develop specialist focus.

The role involves leading a caseload of clinical negligence files, supervising junior colleagues, supporting business development, and building strong client relationships while meeting client protocols and KPIs.

Qualifications

JOB TITLE: Clinical Negligence Solicitor

PQE: 8+ years

LOCATION: Liverpool

THE OPPORTUNITY

The successful candidate will be joining a firm that prides itself in defending clinical negligence claims for NHS Resolution, NHS Trust, and other defendant clinical negligence clients, this will also include primary care clients. You will be joining a historically strong workforce that specialises in birth injuries and safety. This role offers a commensurately high quality of work, with the opportunity to develop specialisms within this important and rewarding field under the guidance of experienced team members.

THE ROLE

While working under this respectable firm you will be expected to run a caseload of clinical negligence files which will include:

• Reviewing evidence and coordinating investigations
• Drafting reports and advising clients
• Interviewing witnesses and preparing statements
• Instructing experts and counsel
• Attending court, case management conferences and application hearings
• Negotiating settlements and holding conferences with counsel
• Preparing for and attending trials and various forms of ADR

Alongside your main responsibilities, you will also be expected to carry out tasks such as:

• Supervising and supporting junior colleagues through delegation and coaching
• Assisting with higher-value claims
• Building strong client and internal relationships while following relevant procedures
• Delivering client training and presentations
• Drafting client articles
• Supporting business development and identifying new opportunities
• Contributing to the wider health business group and firm
• Undertaking secondments to NHS Resolution or NHS Trusts as required

THE CANDIDATE

• Experience within an NHS Resolution panel firm or MDO is preferred
• Experience of NHS Resolution’s EN scheme and maternity-related claims is desirable, with willingness to develop this knowledge essential
• Ability to work independently and as part of a growing team, both remotely and in the office
• Strong understanding of client needs and expectations
• Commitment to developing junior team members
• Ability to work within guidelines, client protocols and KPIs
• Proactive, pragmatic approach with a focus on quality
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation and communication skills
