Job description

A highly respected regional firm with a strong national reputation in clinical negligence is looking to recruit Clinical Negligence Solicitors at a range of experience levels, from 1-year PQE through to senior grade, to join its expanding and well-accredited team.

The firm is known for its excellent work-life balance, offering hybrid and fully remote working options. Candidates can benefit from a highly flexible model requiring as little as one- or two-days’ office attendance per month in Leeds.

About the Role

You will manage your own caseload of clinical negligence matters from initial instruction through to settlement or litigation, depending on the level and complexity appropriate to your experience. You will work closely with medical experts, counsel and clients, progressing cases proactively and providing clear, empathetic advice.

More experienced candidates will also have opportunities to mentor junior colleagues, contribute to departmental strategy and help maintain high standards of service and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing a clinical negligence caseload independently, appropriate to experience
  • Handling all aspects of litigation including drafting, negotiations and trial preparation
  • Liaising with clients, medical experts and third parties professionally and compassionately
  • Supporting junior team members and contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture
  • Meeting performance and financial targets in line with departmental goals
  • Ensuring accurate and timely recording of casework and documentation
  • Supporting the Head of Department or Team Leader with service delivery and departmental objectives
About You
  • Qualified Solicitor or equivalent (applications welcomed from 1 year PQE to senior level)
  • Experience managing your own clinical negligence files with strong outcomes
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and confident deadline management
  • Commercially aware and comfortable working within a target-driven environment
  • Proficient with case management systems and general IT
  • Supportive and collaborative, with the ability to mentor others at senior level
  • Senior candidates (8+ PQE or equivalent) should also demonstrate:
  • Experience handling high-value, complex clinical negligence litigation
  • Confidence in strategy, supervision and team development
