Your new firm

This long-standing client is seeking a Paralegal to join their Clinical Negligence team in Bristol. As a Paralegal in the team, you will provide an important link between the client and the firm, with responsibility for aspects of file management (under supervision). You will be part of a team that represents children who have suffered brain injury due to substandard care received around the time of their birth. Your contribution will make a real difference to these children and their families.

Your new role

You will:

1. Undertake tasks to assist with the running of a caseload under supervision and management of qualified lawyers, carrying out routine tasks.
2. Draft simple legal documents using appropriate precedents and templates.
3. Prepare six-monthly cost letters to clients.
4. Review and summarise medical records and reports.
5. Undertake effective general research, using appropriate methods and sourcing, and present the results accurately and clearly.
6. Provide excellent client service at all times.
7. Prepare and submit documents to the Legal Aid Agency.
8. Handle file closure procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

You should have previous experience in a legal support or administrative role, ideally within clinical negligence or personal injury, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively. Knowledge of the Legal Aid Portal is helpful but not essential.

You will have a solid understanding of the Microsoft Office suite and other relevant IT platforms, strong written communication skills, and a good understanding of client relationship management. You should be able to undertake basic legal work under supervision and use your initiative where required.
