Job summary

The UK Health Security Agency seeks a duties-support role within the Manchester Medical Microbiology Partnership (MMMP). You will assist Biomedical Scientists in receiving, preparing and examining clinical specimens, and help with preparing reagents, stock and records.

The department is UKAS accredited and operates 24/7, requiring reliable, methodical and well organised individuals who communicate effectively; full training will be provided and no formal qualifications beyond GCSE level are

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications are required, although a good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent is necessary.
• Keyboard skills would be a great advantage.
• Full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist Biomedical Scientists in receiving, preparing and examining clinical specimens.
• Prepare reagents, maintain stocks and records.
• Perform general clerical tasks, answer telephone enquiries and handle post.
• Work within a 24/7 shift pattern in a large microbiology department.
