Job summary

University Hospitals of Northamptonshire is seeking a Band 7 Therapies Complex Discharge Lead to join the team at Northampton. The role is fixed term for 4 months (Dec 2026 - Mar 2027) and involves leading a roaming therapy function to support discharge planning and patient flow.

The post holder will provide advanced assessment and lead a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, contributing to service development and quality improvement across the Trust.

Qualifications

• BSc Honours (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy.
• Health and Care Professions Council Registration.
• Clinical educator training.
• Evidence of involvement in research and clinical audit.

Responsibilities

• Be the Clinical Lead Therapist for the Therapies Complex Discharge Team.
• Manage a clinical caseload across multiple wards, specialising in complex cases and facilitating discharge.
• Work flexibly to provide cover to other clinical areas according to patient needs.
• Participate in seven-day working patterns including bank holidays.
• Provide clinical leadership to a team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Support staff.
• Lead on the annual appraisal of allocated staff and assist in personal development and succession planning.

Education
