Purosearch Ltd is sourcing a Clinical Lead Nurse (Maternity Cover) in Rustington for a dementia care home. The role is 30 hours per week, with potential to take extra shifts, and runs for a 10-month maternity cover starting October 2026.

You will work alongside the Home Manager to provide clinical leadership, ensure safe, high-quality care, support staff development and maintain our residents' dignity and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Must hold current NMC registration with PIN.
  • Senior nursing experience in dementia or elderly care.
  • Strong dementia care knowledge and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Autonomous yet collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

Clinical Lead Nurse (Maternity Cover) – Dementia Nursing Home

Location: Rustington, Littlehampton

Salary: £40-42K+

About the Home

A warm, person-centred dementia-focused nursing home located in Littlehampton dedicated to providing exceptional care and support for our residents.

The home prides itself on a compassionate culture, strong leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The Registered Manager is now looking for an experienced, motivated Clinical Lead Nurse to support them in leading the team, maintain and exceed our clients high standards.

The Role

As Clinical Lead Nurse, you will work closely with the Home Manager to ensure the smooth daily running of the service, providing clinical leadership and supporting staff to deliver outstanding, dignified care.

This role combines clinical expertise with strong leadership and management responsibilities. The role is supernumerary and will work at 30 hours a week, with flexibility to how those hours will be worked. There is also the possibility to pick up additional nursing shifts if desired.

This role is to cover a 10 month maternity leave vacancy, starting October 2026. There will be negotiations for the future of the role nearer to the end of the contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Home Manager with the overall operational management of the home.
  • Provide clinical leadership to ensure safe, effective, high-quality nursing care tailored to residents living with dementia.
  • Supervise, mentor and develop nursing and care staff, promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
  • Conduct care audits, manage care plans and ensure compliance with CQC standards and internal policies.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals and external agencies.
  • Assist with staff rota management, recruitment, training, and performance reviews.
  • Oversee medication management and ensure best practice clinical standards are met.
About You
  • Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN/RNLD) with current NMC PIN.
  • Previous experience in a senior nursing role within a dementia or elderly care setting.
  • Strong understanding of dementia care best practice.
  • Confident leader with excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Passionate about delivering person-centred care and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work autonomously while supporting a collaborative team culture.
