Job overview

The Emergency Department in Pilgrim Hospital is seeking Clinical Health Care Support Workers to work within our team ensuring delivery of high standards of patient care.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to learn and develop extended skills, along with further educational and professional development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

CHCSW duties include supporting the registered workforce with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Recording & monitoring of patient observations, performing extended skills (once training complete), ensuring patient needs are met such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and toileting.

Previous Experience
  • Clear understanding of professional accountability related to the role of a band 3 worker.
  • Able to deliver a high standard of care for patients.
  • Effective communication skills with patients/relatives and team members.
  • Significant experience in the NHS and/or health/child care.
Qualifications
  • Literacy and numeracy qualifications equivalent to Functional Skills level 1 or above.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of the Care Certificate or commitment to achieve on joining Trust.
Specific Requirements
  • Able to prioritise and organise tasks effectively.
  • Flexible approach to shift patterns and unit needs.
  • Able to escalate concerns to promote patient safety.
