A vacancy at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Applicants are invited to apply for a Clinical Fellow ST4+ position in Emergency Medicine and MDT Education/Simulation. The post is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
This established role within the Emergency Department involves educating the multidisciplinary team alongside two clinical nurse educators.
Funding is available for successful candidates to complete a postgraduate certificate in medical education at the University of Bristol (link), tied to the completion of the contract. Equivalent studies will also be considered and funded.
The Emergency Department and Urgent Treatment Centre see approximately 130,000 attendances annually, with a separate Pediatric Emergency Department. Facilities include a 6-bay resuscitation area, 16-bay majors trolley area, ambulatory majors, a minor theatre, a plaster room, and a 4-bed observation area. The department has recently expanded with a new Urgent Treatment Centre, Emergency Department, and Children's Emergency Unit.
Fifty percent of the role involves Emergency Medicine clinical care, providing opportunities for gaining experience and responsibility in patient management and departmental operations.

Our department handles a wide variety of presentations across adult and paediatric cases, including medical, surgical, orthopaedic, trauma, and paediatric emergencies, assessed in resus, majors, minors, or paediatric ED.

Fifty percent of the role involves teaching and simulation, with opportunities for in situ MDT simulation, social media, asynchronous learning, virtual/classroom teaching, and broader multiagency simulation collaborations with Severn Deanery, 999 services, and search and rescue teams.
