A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Clinical Fellow ST4+ in Emergency Medicine and MDT Education/Simulation for a 12-month fixed-term role. This position involves clinical care and educational responsibilities, with funding for a postgraduate certificate in medical education. The successful candidate will work within a busy Emergency Department, gaining valuable experience in patient management and departmental oversight while contributing to the education of the multidisciplinary team.
Applicants are invited to apply for a Clinical Fellow ST4+ in Emergency Medicine and MDT Education/Simulation. The post is for a fixed term of 12 months.
This established role within the Emergency Department involves educating the entire multidisciplinary team alongside two clinical nurse educators.
Funding will be provided for successful candidates to complete a postgraduate certificate in medical education at the University of Bristol (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/tlhp/postgraduate-certificate/). This funding is contingent upon successful completion of the 1-year contract. Other equivalent studies will also be considered and funded accordingly.
The Emergency Department and Urgent Treatment Centre handle approximately 130,000 attendances annually, with a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department.
The department features a 6-bay resuscitation area, a 16-bay majors trolley area, an ambulatory majors area, a minor theatre, a plaster room, and a 4-bed observation area. The recent 'Integrated Front Door' project has delivered a new Urgent Treatment Centre, Emergency Department, and Children’s Emergency Unit.
Our busy DGH Emergency Department handles a wide variety of presentations, including medical, surgical, orthopaedic, paediatric, and trauma cases. Patients are assessed in resus, majors, minors, or paediatric ED.
We are committed to our STAR values:
50% of the time will be dedicated to teaching and simulation, including in situ MDT simulation, tea-trolley teaching, social media, asynchronous learning, virtual/classroom teaching, and shop floor teaching. Opportunities exist for simulation within the wider deanery and multiagency collaborations, including strong links to Severn Deanery, 999 services, and search and rescue teams.
