Job summary
Candidates are invited to apply for the above post. We welcome applicants with a background in Medicine, Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, or Surgery. The successful candidates will be appointed to a senior airway rota. So should have the confidence to manage airways independently or confidently whilst awaiting anaesthetic support.All applicants must be eligible for full GMC registration.Essential qualifications for this post include full MRCP or MRCS (or equivalents) for physicians and surgeons respectively, Primary FRCA or equivalent for anaesthetists, MCEM or equivalent for Emergency Medicine Doctors.UK based trainees seeking out of programme experience in Critical Care Medicine would be encouraged to seek prospective approval for Out of Programme Training from the relevant Royal College.Previous critical care experience is essential for this post with general critical care responsibilities. Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the hospital.
Main duties of the job
This post offers the opportunity to participate in a wide range of adult general intensive and high dependency care in a busy mixed medical/surgical ICU/HDU admitting in excess of 2,500 patients per year. The hospital is a tertiary referral centre for the following medical specialities: Infectious & Tropical diseases, Thoracic Medicine, Acute Stroke, Oncology, Haematology, and the following surgical services: Upper GI; Endocrine, Head & Neck, Urology/ Andrology, Gynaecology and Colorectal. The Trust also has a busy maternity unit, and we work with our obstetric colleagues to manage high-risk pregnancies. We are a referral service for complex haematological and rheumatological conditions and you may see conditions routinely that are rarely seen elsewhere.
