Job description
Duties of the Post

Research – The post holder will need to hold a GCP certificate (Good Clinical Practice) or undertake the course, and be expected to be involved with research trial visits and recruitment within the Sleep and CSLD departments. They will also be encouraged to do a research project in Sleep Medicine/PCD/other respiratory condition during their period here.

Clinical – Sleep: The post holder will be involved in the weekday clinical care of patients admitted to the sleep unit as well as those on long‑term ventilation (invasive and non‑invasive) under the care of RBH. The post holder will gain experience in the interpretation and reporting of sleep studies.

Clinical – CSLD: The post holder will join the CSLD team and attend paediatric general respiratory and specialist PCD clinics and internal PCD meetings.

These duties will be equally balanced between sleep and CSLD, with 2 days dedicated to each service and a flexible approach to suit the service needs and the learning priorities of the Fellow. There will also be a day without a specific portfolio which will be used to allow research time.

General ward cover may also be required. The post holder will attend 2 CSLD/general clinics per week.

On Call: A 1 in 7 non‑resident on‑call commitment.

Requirements

This is a one‑year post suitable for an individual seeking experience in paediatric respiratory medicine at the equivalent of ST6‑8 level or someone post‑CCT looking to complement their existing training. Training in paediatric sleep medicine and PCD is available during the year as well as the opportunity to gain experience in other paediatric respiratory sub‑specialties. The post is based at the Royal Brompton Hospital (RBH). The post holder should have a GCP certificate or be able to attain one.
