An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a clinical fellow within the paediatric tertiary complex obesity service. This post (0.8 WTE) involves working within the NHS England commissioned multidisciplinary (MDT) service for children and young people with complications related to excess weight (CEW). The post is initially for 6 months fixed, commencing from September 2025 with a possible further 6 months extension pending confirmation of funding.
Main duties of the jobThis post is based at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC), the CEW MDT hub in the South West of England and caters for the population within BNSSG (Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire) and also provides support for its regional spoke centre based in Plymouth and Cornwall via monthly virtual MDTs. The post holder, with the BRHC MDT will manage children and adolescents with severe obesity related medical complications, working alongside other specialities (example: respiratory, gastroenterology) to formulate clinical pathways, take clinical queries from the Spoke centre and advise on appropriate management. There will also be opportunities to strengthen clinical experience in clinical endocrinology/diabetes, working with the Endocrinology/Diabetes teams to contribute to inpatient, day case and Outpatient care. The post holder will also be encouraged to be involved in clinical projects and in research activities. This post might also appeal to those who wish to obtain an out of programme experience in tertiary Endocrinology in preparation for their sub-specialty applications. This post does not involve out of hours on-call or any commitment to a general paediatric rota.
