Job summary

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated post-holder to support the endoscopy unit across North Tees and Hartlepool campuses. The role includes participating in teaching, research opportunities, and cross-site collaboration with the University Hospitals Tees network.

The post is based at The University Hospital of North Tees with cross-site activity at The University Hospital of Hartlepool.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the operations team for the smooth running of the endoscopy unit on a daily basis, including vetting referrals and supporting admin/nursing staff.
• Contribute to endoscopy training and nursing education within the endoscopy department.
• Cover colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
• Participate in educational supervision meetings and annual appraisals (mandatory) with the Clinical Lead.
• Participate in clinic governance within endoscopy and gastroenterology.
• Undertake continuing professional development and perform other appropriate duties as required.

Job description

The post will be predominantly based at The University Hospital of North Tees with a level of cross site working at The University Hospital of Hartlepool. The post is advertised on a full time basis. Any candidate who is unable to work full time will be eligible to apply and, if appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed in consultation with consultant colleagues and the Clinical Lead in Gastroenterology.

The successful applicant will be able to negotiate the remaining 5 sessions, with the options of:

• Endoscopy-related research, often undertaken in conjunction with Newcastle University and the Northern Region Endoscopy Group.
• Endoscopy teaching and research into teaching as part of the Northern endoscopy training academy & northern endoscopy training centre
• ERCP/EUS training
• University Qualifications - masters of education or research for example through our local universities (Teesside, Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham)
• improvement projects within the department
• Additional clinical or SPA activities

The post-holder will be required to:

• Contribute to endoscopy training and the nursing education within the endoscopy department.
• Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences
• Take part in educational supervision meetings and annual appraisals (mandatory) carried out by the Clinical Lead. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.
• Take part in clinic governance process within endoscopy and gastroenterology.
• Undertake continuing professional development.
• Perform any other appropriate duties which may be required on an unexpected basis
