A leading healthcare provider in Truro is seeking a Clinical Fellow in Clinical Microbiology (ST3+). The role involves contributing to infection management skills, supporting inpatient ID services, and developing laboratory expertise. Candidates must have an MBBS or equivalent, GMC registration, and previous patient care experience in the UK. Applications are sought for a fixed-term Clinical Fellow (ST3+) post with good educational opportunities.
Under the supervision of consultant staff, the post holder will contribute to and gain experience in the prevention, diagnosis and management of infection.
The post holder will participate fully in the laboratory process, validating the results produced by the laboratory and providing clinical advice to clinical colleagues with respect to Microbiology results and diagnostic procedures distinguishing between infectious and non-infectious processes.
To work across the infection team with an emphasis on supporting the new inpatient ID service
Contribute to day to day management of ID consults, support ID clinic working with the ID and other infection consultants
Contribute as a member of the clinical MDT focusing on prevention, diagnosis, and management of infection in patients, providing clinical advice to colleagues
To develop experience and expertise in the laboratory processes, distinguishing between infectious and non-infectious processes.
Assist teaching and training of medical students and F1 doctors.
To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
