Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Clinical Engineer (Clinical Technologist) to join the Medical Equipment Management Service at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. You will support safe diagnosis and treatment by maintaining, repairing, commissioning, calibrating and assuring performance of a wide range of medical equipment.

You will work with a team of specialist engineers and clinical staff across NHSGGC, handling lifecycle management and preventative maintenance, with a 36-hour week,

Qualifications

• Engineering or technology knowledge to SCQF Level 9.
• Understanding of clinical, scientific, and engineering principles.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, repair, and fault-find on medical equipment.
• Commission and performance‑assure new medical devices.
• Calibrate and test medical equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Respond to equipment failures and provide technical support in clinical environments.
• Undertake planned preventative maintenance across hospital departments and clinics.
• Manage equipment throughout its lifecycle in line with service standards.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and clinical staff to support patient care and safety.
• Support the effective management of high and medium‑risk medical devices, including equipment such as infusion pumps.
