Teesside University is a bold, ambitious, and globally engaged institution, deeply rooted in its region and driven by a mission to transform lives and economies. We are proud of our impact locally, nationally, and internationally, and of our reputation for excellence in teaching, research, and enterprise. Our vision is clear: to harness the power of education, innovation and partnership to create opportunity and deliver impact that matters.
Building on Teesside University's established strengths in healthcare education, we are taking forward plans to establish a new Teesside University Medical School. This is a major strategic priority for the University, driven by a commitment to widen access to medical education and help address the health and workforce needs of the Tees Valley and wider region. Subject to General Medical Council approval, we plan to welcome our first cohort of medical students in September 2027.
We are now seeking Clinical Education Tutors to play an important role in establishing and delivering our new undergraduate medical programme. Working closely with the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education and the wider Medical School team, you will help shape the curriculum, develop teaching materials and deliver high-quality education to Phase One medical students. Your responsibilities will include facilitating Problem Based Learning sessions, teaching clinical communication and physical examination skills, and providing academic and pastoral support. You will also contribute to assessment, examinations and wider Medical School activities as the programme develops.
You will be medically qualified, registered with the GMC and have at least one year's clinical experience following full registration, gained in a relevant primary or acute care setting. You will bring a sound understanding of contemporary teaching methods, strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to medical education and student development. Experience of teaching undergraduate medical students, particularly through Problem Based Learning, would be advantageous, although not essential. You will be approachable, adaptable and enthusiastic about contributing to the development of a new Medical School.
