A leading end-of-life charity in Belfast seeks a Clinical Educator to develop and implement a comprehensive training programme for clinical staff. The role demands strong experience in teaching, leadership, and quality improvement in palliative care. Candidates must possess a relevant clinical qualification and demonstrate excellent communication skills. This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week with a salary range of £38,682 – £46,580 per annum. The position offers generous annual leave and opportunities for professional development.
Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they’re likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.
We want a different society than the one we live in now. Our mission for the next five years is to close the gap in the number of people missing out on what they need at the end-of-life, through 3 ways:
We’re looking for a Clinical Educator to join our team at our Belfast Hospice and out in the Community.
The Clinical Educator is a senior practitioner within the Marie Curie multidisciplinary team, responsible for developing and facilitating a comprehensive training programme that supports clinical staff in delivering high-quality palliative care.
The role involves working closely with the Head of Quality and Clinical Practice, Practice Education Facilitators, and place-based teams to embed professional and clinical standards, lead induction and mentoring for new staff, and ensure that quality improvement and clinical governance are reflected in all training and education activities.
At least 75% of the Clinical Educator’s time is spent directly in the clinical setting, supporting staff, fostering a compassionate environment, and driving continuous improvement through learning from incidents, audits, and feedback. The post holder is accountable for their actions, works within relevant legal and ethical frameworks, and plays a key role in mentoring, supervision, and the development of both individuals and the wider team.
