Job Overview

Clinical Education Practitioner

As the Trust evolves to continue supporting the education and development of our people, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for proactive and enthusiastic clinicians to undertake the Clinical Education Practitioner role.

This role aligns a range of portfolios within education, and focuses on the importance of practice-based education and clinical development, ensuring that all our clinical colleagues are supported with their induction, career-development, professional development, and individual needs.

Based: post-holders will be allocated a specific dispatch desk as their primary location, to be agreed at appointment (0.5 at Tangmere and 0.5 at Worthing). Post-holders will also be expected to travel across the Trust’s geographical area as required in order to meet objectives.

Working pattern: post-holders will work a rolling four-on-four-off rota pattern. Unsocial hours will be paid in line with Agenda for Change.

Hours of work: Posts are available as full-time or fractional (part time) appointments, and flexible working requests will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The role will focus on supporting new and existing clinicians within the Trust to deliver the requirements of their role, as well as to develop clinically and professionally with a strong focus on career-long learning.

Post-holders will work across all four areas of practice: education, management and leadership, clinical practice, and research and development.

Working Within a Larger Team, Post-holders Will Be Expected To Deliver a Range Of Strategic Objectives, With The Time Spent On Each To Be Agreed Between The Post-holder And Their Line Manager

  • Course delivery: the focus of these vacancies will be the Trust’s Key Skills Programme from a course delivery perspective.
  • Portfolio lead / project management: these vacancies will focus on the support of learners and clinical colleagues within an allocated Dispatch Desk (to be confirmed with post-holder on appointment).
  • Clinical practice: as appropriate to the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this may include working on Double Crewed Ambulances, undertaking PACCS clinician work, working within the Trust’s call centres, or undertaking specialist practice roles.
  • Scholarly activities: to include personal development, research, developing communities of practice, and supporting local initiatives.

Please note that the salary range noted on the vacancy is in line with agenda for change (AFC) pay scales. All successful applicants would be placed automatically at the bottom of the banding, unless proven, relevant NHS or equivalent experience can be demonstrated.

Following the revision of current national legislation (Vaccine as a Condition of Deployment), the Trust has reviewed our requirements relating to staff uptake of the SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) vaccination.

Going forward, for patient facing positions, we strongly recommend that new starters will be appropriately vaccinated unless medically exempt in order to offer greater protection against exposure to the virus for front line staff.

In line with this recommendation, if you are successful in your application for a front line post, we will seek information from you in relation to your vaccine status, including exemption status, as applicable.
