Job summary

Horder Healthcare is seeking an experienced Practice Development Nurse to join our Training & Governance team in East Grinstead. You will lead the strategic vision for clinical education, supporting colleagues to build skills and confidence while ensuring high-quality patient care.

You will work with Heads of Clinical Services, Chief Nurse and external partners to develop education, induction, and competency frameworks, while supporting students and staff new to specialist environments.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse registration
• Mentorship qualification or equivalent
• Teaching qualification
• Experience of line management
• Experience of practice development and supporting organisational change
• Experience of developing and implementing new initiatives
• Experience of education audit and evaluation
• Experience of working with higher education institutions, ICBs and NHS England
• Experience of undertaking skills gap analysis and developing competency frameworks
• Experience supporting pre- and post-registration staff and colleagues new to specialist clinical environments
• Ability to advise registered staff on professional development opportunities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the confidence to manage challenging conversations
• Strong organisational, leadership and presentation skills
• Ability to initiate, evaluate and sustain change

Responsibilities

• Lead role in supporting the strategic vision for clinical education across the organisation.
• Help deliver and develop clinical education and professional development programmes.
• Oversee induction, mentoring and preceptorship activities.
• Support clinical skills and competency development initiatives.
• Coordinate education audits and quality assurance processes.
• Support for pre- and post-registration nursing students and learners.
• Develop and implement education initiatives and learner placements.
• Collaborate with Heads of Clinical Services and external partners on education.
• Provide clinical and professional advice and manage performance conversations.
