Job description

Job Overview

BeeU Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service has an exciting opportunity for an Applied Psychologist to join a 12-month enhancement of our existing Intensive Support Team (IST). The team will focus on addressing the mental health needs of autistic young people experiencing suicidal ideation, deliberate self-harm, or eating distress, particularly where engagement with existing therapeutic offers is challenging or additional support is needed.

This enhanced service will be delivered by a multidisciplinary team, including a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Mental Health Practitioner, and Peer Support Worker. The clinical model will be informed by autism-affirming, trauma-informed practice, positive behavioral support, and family and systemic interventions to ensure timely community support and reduce inpatient admissions. The team will also collaborate with other BeeU services to provide support, consultation, supervision, and training, enhancing workforce skills.

Main duties include providing specialist psychological assessment and intervention, working collaboratively with young people, families, and stakeholders, offering autism-specific, trauma-informed support, leading on trauma-informed care initiatives, working autonomously within professional guidelines, and contributing to research and service development.

Working for our organization

By joining Team MPFT, you will help your community, and in return, we offer career development, NHS pension, generous leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing resources, travel support, lease or salary sacrifice cars, bikes, free parking, flu vaccinations, and financial support through a Hardship Fund.

We value diversity and inclusivity, with staff networks to support community and professional growth.
