An exciting opportunity to join the growing Dorset Cancer Centre Counselling and Psychology Service, working with patients, their families and carers under the care of Cancer services, including Palliative Care. You will provide a safe and effective evidence-based Level 4 psychological support service to individuals, couples and families who are affected by a diagnosis of cancer or other life-limiting illness in line with NICE Guidance on Cancer Care Services, Improving Supportive and Palliative Care for Adults. You will work closely within our team comprised of Clinical Psychologist and Team Lead, Counsellors, Systemic Family Psychotherapist, and a Social Worker. We all work alongside multidisciplinary professionals providing nursing, medical and therapeutic care.

We are looking for an experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist who will be involved in training and clinical supervision of healthcare professionals and able to offer placement to Clinical or Counselling Psychologist on Doctoral courses. We are also looking for someone who will fit in well with our compassionate and dedicated team. You will need to be flexible and open-minded as we develop our services across the Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole area in line with the recent merger of the acute hospitals, and the transformation agenda. The postholder would be expected to work across the 3 main sites in Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch. Our services provide a range of modalities to support our service users and you will be open to working with people face-to-face, via telephone and via video.

Although this post is advertised at a Band 8a, we would welcome applications from newly- or recently-qualified Psychologists for a Preceptorship role at Band 7, with progression to 8a once requirements are fulfilled. Full support will be given.
