Job summary

Nuffield Health is seeking a part-time Clinical Coder to join our remote team on a maternity cover contract until 31 July 2027. You will code hospital episodes using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 across NHS and private activity, delivering accurate, timely results.

ACC status is mandatory, with strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and the ability to work independently within a virtual team. The role is home-based with occasional travel for team meetings; competitive salary is

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Clinical Coder in a healthcare environment.
• Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) status mandatory.
• Good knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding classifications.
• Good knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to sustain high volume and high-quality work product, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a larger/virtual team.

Responsibilities

• Provide a Clinical Coding service for all Nuffield Health hospitals.
• Accurately assign ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes to hospital episodes covering NHS and privately funded activity.
• Code activity from a wide range of clinical specialties.
• Respond professionally to queries from hospitals and consultant surgeons.
• Escalate any issues to the Specialist Lead or Clinical Coding Manager, when appropriate.

Working across a range of specialties our Clinical Coders provide an expert Clinical Coding service for all 37 Nuffield Health hospitals.Our coding team has a broad range of experience and includes an Experienced Approved Clinical Coding Trainer and two Approved Clinical Coding Auditors providing full audit, validation, and training support.
