Job summary

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust seeks a healthcare support worker for a 20-bed unit at Brixham Community Hospital. You will provide safe clinical care under indirect supervision, performing cannulation, venepuncture, and monitoring adults with the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, referring safeguarding cases, and contributing to service development. Strong communication, organisation, and confidentiality are essential for success.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or willingness to enrol on and complete it.
• Experience in a care environment, or evidence of a caring nature or life experience.
• Basic computer and keyboard skills; ability to use both handwritten and electronic records.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality clinical care to assigned patients under indirect supervision of a registered nurse or practitioner.
• Carry out clinical tasks including cannulation and venepuncture.
• Take and interpret adult vital signs.
• Make appropriate referrals to safeguarding teams.
• Liaise with the multidisciplinary team to maintain safety.
• Support colleagues during shifts and work under guidance from senior staff.
• Assist with service development and participate in discussions and projects benefiting the team.
