Job summary

Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre is recruiting a clinical administrator to join our practice. The role involves clinical admin and some clinical work, including phlebotomy and flu vaccinations to maintain competency. Initially, 25 hours per week, Tue–Thu, with potential to extend up to four or five days after probation.

The role is predominantly administrative with allowed additional hours for phlebotomy/HCA work. Full training will be provided for all elements of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking administrative duties using the clinical system to run reports for research and vaccination eligibility.
  • Phlebotomy/HCA tasks as part of role to maintain competency.
  • Stock ordering and stock rotation.
  • Care and cleaning of clinical equipment.
  • Assist lead nurse with the clinical appointment system.
  • Check and resupply emergency equipment.
  • Support GP in coil and contraceptive implant procedures.
  • Train to become a chaperone.
  • Role based on the premises.

About the Role

Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre is looking to recruit a clinical administrator to join our practice. This is a new and dynamic role which will involve clinical admin as well as some clinical work. Initially, the role will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, to allow for training and mentoring. On completion of your probationary period, the role can be spread over four or five days.

This is predominantly administrative work, with some clinical work e.g. phlebotomy/flu vaccinations each week to maintain competency in this area. We are initially advertising for 25 hours per week, however, there is the option for an additional 5 hours per week for phlebotomy/HCA work. Full training will be provided for all elements of the role.

Main duties include:
  • Undertaking a variety of administrative duties including using the clinical system to run reports i.e. for research, patient eligibility for flu vaccinations, monitoring long term health conditions etc.
  • Phlebotomy/HCA tasks
  • Stock ordering and stock rotation
  • Care and cleaning of clinical equipment
  • Helping our lead nurse with the clinical appointment system
  • Checking and resupplying emergency equipment
  • Support for the GP inserting coils and contraceptive implants
  • Train to become a chaperone
  • The role is based on the premises
About the Candidate

We are looking for someone who would fulfil the role of clinical administrator to support our large nursing team. Applications are welcome from extremely well organised, adaptable and friendly individuals who are keen to help us provide high levels of customer service.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills with patients and colleagues. We are looking for a proactive, hard-working completer/finisher, methodical and someone who is a good team worker.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, working in a confidential and discreet manner.
  • Ability to multi-task, work efficiently and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as independently.

About Us

We are a highly reputable, friendly and supportive semi-rural, dispensing, research and GP training practice operating in north Norfolk within the village of Hoveton/Wroxham, 6-miles to the north east of the fine city of Norwich. We have a growing list size of approximately 10,000 patients. We are also a member of the NN4 Primary Care Network, working closely with 5 other local practices.

From autumn 2026, Hoveton and Wroxham Medical Centre will be managing primary care services at the new Magna Medical Centre in Rackheath.
