Job summary

Base71 Youth Zone in Barnsley is seeking Sessional Youth Workers – Climbing to deliver fun, safe and challenging climbing sessions for young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 with SEND).

You'll lead inductions, supervised climbs and support NICAS awards, conduct safety checks and create a welcoming environment that motivates young people to progress, while upholding health and safety and safeguarding expectations.

Qualifications

• You’ll need a Climbing Wall Instructor qualification (or the experience to quickly achieve this).
• Experience in climbing instruction and wall safety checks is essential.
• Experience working with young people, including those with SEND, is essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver fun, safe and challenging climbing sessions for young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 with SEND).
• Carry out safety checks on climbing walls and equipment.
• Run inductions and supervised climbs; support NICAS awards.
• Create a welcoming environment that motivates young people to keep progressing.
